Hearts Enteral DME Update
Hearts Enteral DME has grown to a team of nearly 20 employees since 2019 (inception), and we continue to expand. We now serve more than 500 + patients and have dedicated departments for patient intake staffed by certified insurance specialists, certified billing professionals, ordering, clinical support with an on-staff nurse, and reception and administration. One of our valued administrative team members is also an MSUD patient, bringing both professional expertise and personal understanding to the families we serve.
Hearts Enteral DME provides all types of formula, medical foods, vitamins, supplements, low-protein foods for both oral and tube-feeding patients, as well as enteral feeding pumps, feeding kits, and related supplies. As patient advocates, our goal is to ensure that patients have little to no out-of-pocket expense whenever coverage is available. We work closely with insurance companies to help ensure claims are processed accurately and paid appropriately. Through this process, we are often able to help patients obtain affordable coverage and, in many cases, secure 100% coverage regardless of their insurance type.
We accept most commercial insurance plans, as well as many Medicaid plans, and our Medicare enrollment is currently pending.
Because of our success, we do not advertise or actively market our services. Our growth has come through proven results, referrals, long-standing relationships with clinics and hospitals, and patients who choose Hearts Enteral DME after experiencing challenges with other DME suppliers. In fact, one of the reasons Compassion Works established Hearts Enteral was to address the barriers many patients faced when accessing medical foods and enteral supplies, which often created unnecessary stress, anxiety, and uncertainty surrounding insurance coverage.
As you know, billing codes, insurance policies, and coverage requirements continue to evolve. Because of this, conversations regarding medical food reimbursement and insurance coverage should always be handled thoughtfully and accurately to avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary anxiety for patients and their families. We strongly encourage providers, organizations, and families to seek guidance from certified medical billing and coding specialists (CMCS) or experienced medical food reimbursement professionals when discussing insurance coverage (not a sales executive), as reimbursement decisions are highly individualized and based on current payer policies, coding requirements, and medical necessity.
